Memorial Blood Centers has announced an emergency plea for blood. The holiday season is traditionally a challenging time for blood donation, as family gatherings and holiday travel often lead to a decrease in donations. Historically, donations drop by as much as 20% during the holiday season, creating a critical gap in the blood supply just as demand often rises due to travel-related accidents and other emergencies. MBC is asking for your help to spread the word about the blood emergency. Here are a few ways you can help:
1) Donate blood! You can schedule at a MBC Donor Center or an upcoming blood drive.
2) Schedule a blood drive at your organization. The best way to prevent a blood emergency is to have a steady, stable supply of blood throughout the year. MBC is now scheduling blood drives in January 2025 and beyond.
3) If your organization cannot host a blood drive at this time, share MBC’s emergency plea for blood to those in your organization, asking those eligible to make a donation appointment.
4) Share MBC’s Facebook and Instagram posts on your organization’s social media platforms and website.
