The Shakopee Chamber of Commerce and SouthWest Metro Intermediate District were collectively awarded 1.2 million dollars in Drive for 5 grant funding from the Department of Employment & Economic Development to begin work on the Career Lift Initiative.
The Shakopee Chamber and SWMetro are seeking local businesses, educational institutions and community organizations to build one of the most robust and collaborative jobs programs ever seen in the county. As a Career Lift Business partner, your organization will gain fully trained and qualified employees in the industries listed below.
Course Description:
Introduces concepts of basic human needs, health/illness continuum, and basic nursing skills in long-term care and/or home care environments. Instruction consists of a classroom or online setting, and skills labs. Skills are taught in a simulated laboratory setting utilizing demonstration and role-playing.
The course meets the objectives of the federal and state statutory requirements for nursing assistant training.
Upon successfully completing the training, students are eligible to take the certifying state exam and be listed on the nursing registry as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) upon passing both the Knowledge and Skills exam.
Students must have criminal background check clearance.

The Pharmacy Technician program prepares students to work under supervision of a licensed pharmacist carrying out duties such as assisting patients, filling prescriptions, and keeping pharmacy records.

In this hands-on course you will learn the internal components of a computer, assemble a computer, install Windows and Linux operating systems, connect and share network access, and troubleshoot common issues with computer and network systems. Helps prepare students for the CompTIA A+ professional certification.

Learn what it takes to be a Security Analyst working with a Security Operations Center (SOC) team. We will cover the core security skills needed for monitoring, detecting, investigating, analyzing, and responding to security attacks, thus protecting systems and organizations from cybersecurity risks, threats, and vulnerabilities. This is a hands-on, career-oriented course with an emphasis on practical experience to help students develop specialized skills to successfully handle the tasks, duties, and responsibilities of an associate-level Security Analyst working in a Security Operations Center (SOC). Helps prepare students for the Cisco CyberOps Associate professional certification.
