  • FREE training: credentialing and certificate programs for high-demand jobs in Scott County
  • Quality Job Placement & Retention Services provided by the Shakopee Area Chamber of Commerce
  • Comprehensive Support Services through Scott County Employment and Training
  • Participants must live and work in Scott County, Minnesota

The Shakopee Chamber is seeking local businesses, educational institutions and community organizations to build one of the most robust and collaborative jobs programs ever seen in the county. As a Career Lift Business partner, your organization will gain fully trained and qualified employees in the industries listed below.

Career Lift Business Partner

  • All business partners must be located within Scott County, Minnesota.
    Scott County RISE (Resources for Inclusive Success and Employment) provides business leaders with essential training to create inclusive workplaces where employees of all backgrounds can succeed. Choose between our convenient six-part video series or schedule an in-person consultation at your business location - both options deliver practical strategies for hiring, training, and retaining diverse talent—turning workplace inclusion into a competitive advantage for your organization. **This program is completely FREE for all Scott County businesses as part of the Career Lift initiative.**

Pharmacy Technician

Course Description:
With the need for prescription medications growing each year, the demand for pharmacy technicians is expected to increase rapidly. The Pharmacy Technician program prepares students to work under supervision of a licensed pharmacist carrying out duties such as assisting patients, filling prescriptions, and keeping pharmacy records.

 

Boiler Licensing Program

Course Description:
This course covers both high and low pressure boilers used in steam and hot water heating, high-pressure, high-temperature hot water boilers used in heating or process installations, and small mechanical-drive steam turbines. With our comprehensive curriculum, you will gain the expertise you need to ace the boilers licensing exam, opening up new opportunities for advancement in your career.

 

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) & Medication Aide

Course Description:
Introduces concepts of basic human needs, health/illness continuum, and basic nursing skills in long-term care and/or home care environments. Instruction consists of a classroom or online setting, and skills labs. Skills are taught in a simulated laboratory setting utilizing demonstration and role-playing.
The course meets the objectives of the federal and state statutory requirements for nursing assistant training.
Upon successfully completing the training, students are eligible to take the certifying state exam and be listed on the nursing registry as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) upon passing both the Knowledge and Skills exam.
Students must have criminal background check clearance.

Free post-secondary training now available in Scott County

The Career Lift Initiative is a new community partnership open to Scott County residents that will provide:

Eligibility Requirements

All participants must be at least 18 years old, authorized to work in the U.S., and not enrolled in any K–12 school.

Applicants must meet ONE of the following criteria:

  • Identify as a person of color
  • Lack stable housing
  • Lack a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have disabilities
  • Have been unemployed for 26+ of the past 52 weeks
  • Have limited English proficiency
  • Have income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guideline
